Released at then beginning of February, Academic Earth is a place to go to access thousands of video lectures from the world’s top scholars. The video lectures are grouped in the traditional academic subject categories, and the  environment provides all the expected features such as download, embed, share etc.

The lectures are filmed live in front of an audience (like the TED lectures) and provide an opportunity to hear from many of the ‘big’ names in their field. I took the opportunity to listen to Thomas Friedman talk about his work on the World Is Flat, and explain the factors that influenced his writing.

Looks like a great place to visit for good quality presentations from people whose books we may read, but are unlikely to get the opportunity to see or listen to!
