Last week I had the privilege of working with a team of amazing NZ educators and students to launch 24Hours of Change a unique, worldwide event dedicated to transforming education. The 24 Hours for Change in Education initiative unites teachers, students, families, educational leaders, and experts from across the globe in a continuous, 24 hours of presentations, starting in New Zealand.
As the first team up, the NZ contingent had the honour of welcoming everyone to the event, and did so in typical Aotearoa/NZ style with a mihi and waiata performed by students from Stonefields School, four of whom then shared how they engaged with their learning and how they are developing skills as problem solvers and life-long learners. Natahasha Teinakore shared the process she’d used as principal to facilitate an extensive process of community engagement to co-construct a graduate profile for Birkdale Primary School. Finally, three students from Albany Senior High School described how the programmes and culture at that school have enabled them to grow and thrive as learners and future citizens.
The various presentations from this event have now been processed by the organisers. There’s a web page dedicated to the NZ segment that contains the recording of the complete NZ presentation, plus a really useful overview of what was covered which is why I’ve chosen not to repeat all of that here.
You can find a more comprehensive overview with links to all of the country presentations here – https://24hforchange.education/
Please share this widely among your networks as it profiles what we are doing here in NZ in such positive ways.
