Nelson ICT Conference

I have the privilege today of participating in the Nelson Schools ICT Cluster gathering at Hampden Street School. The meeting kicked off with a highly stimulating address from Dorothy Burt from Point England School, and curretly facilitator for the Manaiakalani Cluster of schools.

Dorothy shared her very rich experience of the past ten years working at Point England School, making extensive use of ICTs to enhance the development of literacy among the student population from predominantly non-English speaking backgrounds. Dorothy has shared details of her keynote on her Manaiakalani blog – including links to examples of her student’s work and projects.

  1. Thanks you Derek (and Andrew). Your final address to a cluster concluding their contract was masterly. Inspiring and challenging, without being threatening to those who hadn’t come as far as they might have hoped. As as keynote speaker you are one of NZ’s best kept secrets (well, I know you do get around, but….) and I would hope that conference organisers have you at the top of their list before they consider spending large amount on internationals 🙂 Thanks for the challenges to my thinking you gave today.
All the best as you travel over the next few weeks.
